Lauren & Mike: Wedding Décor

Earlier this year, a bride-to-be asked me if I'd like to decorate for her fall wedding. It's safe to say that my response was much more reserved than my excitement. I began planning and "pinning" right away.

Lauren and Mike were after a vintage-rustic theme with classic fall colors. The wedding took place in Lauren's parents' beautiful backyard, with the ceremony on the lawn and the reception under a white high-peak tent.

The ceremony décor was simple: stained crates with mums and a classic floral arbor.

Pinwheels. Paper fans. Rosettes. I really wish I knew what they were called. All I know is that there are 222 of them, and I may have made a large portion of them in my sleep. I've always been a crafter, but this was definitely a new extreme! Some were hung over the dance floor as a focal point among 3 chandeliers, while others were scattered around the buffet, dessert, gift, and DJ tables.

The escort cards were a small, more personal rendition of the paper fans. The names were written on a deep purple, coordinating with the bridesmaid dresses.

Each place setting had a paper straw resembling a birch tree with a "Lauren & Mike" embellishment. The favors were chocolate truffles disguised with paper and twine. I'm eating the last chocolate as I type…

The centerpieces were crates, hinting to the ceremony aisle decor. I stained and stenciled the centerpieces with an 'F' for their initial. The crates contained glass bottles {formerly Starbucks Frappuccino jars}, and were filled with fresh flowers. Ribbons were the perfect option for outdoor table runners.

As for signage, chalkboards were a great fit. This encouraged me to look into typographic designs. There are so many fun possibilities! Does the "Lauren & Mike" sign look familiar? It matches the straw flags.

I was completely honored to be a part of such an important day for Lauren and Mike. It was worth every to-do list, craft store run, and hot glue gun burn. I owe many thanks to family and friends who helped with so many details.
